Rats, Why Does the Demolition Permit require a Rodent Letter?

Most permit jurisdictions require the applicant to hire a licensed pest control company to treat the project structure to eradicate rodents (rats) prior to the demolition. The "Rodent Letter" is often required to be dated within 30 days of the issuance of the permit from the jurisdiction. The City of Atlanta will hold the release of the demolition permit until this letter is produced.

Pest control companies normally charge between $100-$250 for an typical residential structure. Commercial projects will be charged based on square footage and location.
